Country Club. After falling two holes behind on the front nine, Spieth took the lead with a birdie 2 at the 13th hole and closed out the match with a birdie 4 at the 536-yard 17th. Earlier Wednesday, Spieth completed stroke-play qualifying with a 6-over-par 150 total. Highland Park's Cody Gribble was second in stroke-play qualifying at 140, one shot behind medalist Jorge Fernandez Valdes of Argentina. But Gribble lost three of his first five holes against Andrew Steinhofer of Madison, Wis., and lost the match, 5 and 4. Tuesday storms pushed the conclusion of qualifying into Wednesday, and 11 of the 32 opening-round matches could not be completed. Boom Stitart of Keller led his match against Jack Perry of Santa Barbara, Calif., 1 up through 12 holes. Landon Tujague, Spieth's teammate at Jesuit, lost to J.J. Spaun of San Dimas, Calif., 3 and 2.
