ALL-AREA2008 Girls All-Area Golf11:49 AM CDT on Thursday, May 29, 2008 MILTON HINNANT/DMN Bishop Lynch sophomore Amy Ruengmateekhun is SportsDay's Player of the Year for the second straight year. Weight lifting helped add 10 yards of length to the already prodigious drives of Bishop Lynch sophomore Amy Ruengmateekhun. Running hills at Tenison Park with teammates improved her conditioning. The result? Ruengmateekhun, also SportsDay's 2007 Player of the Year, got a little better this season. She led Bishop Lynch to a 28-shot victory in the TAPPS Class 6A team competition, which was more important to Ruengmateekhun than winning her second state individual title, this one by 13 strokes. Her margin of victory at district was 18. Ruengmateekhun lives with her family in Garland and is a member of Oak Ridge Country Club. "I can be a lot better, but I'm happy with where I am right now," Ruengmateekhun said. She's a natural high-ball hitter. Windy days gave her some problems this spring, but she's worked on adapting by hitting a lower ball flight. Her putting has improved, too. "I can make my five-footers," she said. "My confidence is high."
